Birding sites in Kenya offer an abundance of birdie species, ranging from 200 and 600+ at any given location. You see common, rare, endangered, threatened and vulnerable species in almost every type of setting – forests, lakes, grasslands, rivers, woodlands, swamps and much more! Finding these smaller creatures amidst the vast and expansive landscapes of Kenya is a real treat for safari goers of all ages and experience levels!
Maasai mara is very well-known in the birding world and is now common among specialist birding tours. About 500 different species have been documented in Maasai Mara including Secretary Bird, Madagascar Squacco Heron, White headed Vulture, Martial, Grey Crested Helmet Shrike, Yellow Billed Oxpecker, the Corncrake, Lesser Kestrel, Crowned Eagle Saddle Billed Stork, Ostrich, and Lilac Breasted Roller. Baringo is a vital bird site and is popular among specialist birding safaris. A few of the popular birds documented here are Bristle crowned Starling, darters, white backed duck, African Skimmers, Jackson’s and Hemprich’s Hornbill, Goliath Heron. Tsavo is vast which provides excellent opportunities for birding and is becoming a common area for specialist birding trips. A few of the popular species are the Blue Quail, Martial, the uncommon Basra Reed Warbler, Crowned eagle, Violet Wood hoopoe, ostrich plus Friedmann’s Lark. Both Tsavo East and Tsavo West as well as the adjoining private ranches and wildlife conservancies are great birding spots in Kenya. Lake Naivasha has documented more than 400 different bird species. The water from the lake allures a number of water birds for example Red-knobbed coot, Little Grebe, the biggest population of African Fish Eagle, Goliath Heron, Saddle Billed Stork, rare maccoa duck,pied and malachite kingfisher, African Darters plus spoonbills. Amboseli is very famous among avid bird watchers and elephant watchers. More than 400 different species with 40 raptors have been documented. The most popular ones include various birds of prey like a small population of Martial Eagles, a number of ducks, darters, heron nest in the wetlands plus lesser flamingo.
Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai mara
At 8 o'clock you will be picked up from your Nairobi Hotel and commence the drive to Maasai Mara. You will pass via the great rift valley view point where you will have a stop over of 10 -15 minutes to view the rift valley. Lunch will be at the camp in Maasai Mara. In the afternoon after you check in depart for a sunset evening game viewing drive in the Mara Reserve (4.00 to 6.00 p.m.). Return back to the camp for buffet dinner ending with good time for resting at Enkajiang Camp, Rhino Tourist Camp or similar camp. (The tents have toilet, shower, bed, linen and mosquito nets. Electricity is provided from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm in the evening. Also from 6:00 am to 8:00 am in the morning).
Masai Mara Reserve is the most popular tourism destination in Kenya. Located in the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland. Wildlife is most concentrated on the reserve’s western escarpment. Its regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife Viewing areas.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Maasai Mara Reserve
At around 7:00 am after breakfast, you will leave for a full day exploring Masai Mara in search of the Big Five and the annual wildebeest’s migration which alone involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in November. Hardly can a visitor miss to spot the big five. The phenomenal wildebeest migration which is a spectacular event only seen in Mara reserve is the seventh wonder of the world. At midday, You will have picnic lunch in the park which is provided by us. You will visit the site of the yearly wildebeest migration and see the resident crocodiles and hippos sited at the banks of Mara river then continue with your game drive of the mara reserve.

Day 3: Maasai Mara to Lake Naivasha
Relaxed morning breakfast then depart to Lake Naivasha. Enjoy a brief stop at the Maasai Village for cultural encounter on your way- Learn about the Masai community and interact with the local Masai people as you en route out of Maasai Mara. Thereafter commence your drive to Naivasha arriving in time for lunch at the lodge. In the evening, go for a walk along the lake for as well as an hour boat ride for bird watching and hippo viewing.
Lake Naivasha being a fresh water lake on the Rift floor is home to an incredible variety of species. Over 450 species have been recorded here.

Day 4: Lake Naivasha to Lake Bogoria
After breakfast, drive to Lake Bogoria with packed lunches to arriving in the afternoon.
See the hot springs and geysers with a guided walk along the lake for bird viewing. Spot birds off all kinds, over 450 species.Later, drive to Soi Safari Lodge.

Day 5: Lake Baringo to Nairobi
Early breakfast at the lodge and thereafter go on a guided bird walk along Lake Baringo. Later, return to the lodge for an early lunch. Thereafter, check out and drive back to Nairobi arriving in the evening with drop off at Ibis Styles Hotel https://www.ibisstylesnairobi.com/ for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Nairobi to Tsavo East National Park
Breakfast at the hotel and at 7 am, you are picked up and drive to Tsavo East National Park through Nairobi-Mombasa Highway with lunch on the way. Arrive Tsavo East in the late afternoon. Check in at the lodge.
In the evening, proceed for game viewing in the park.
Bird watching is best between October and January, with many migratory birds including: African skimmers, red and yellow bishops, goshawks, buffalo weavers and palm nut vultures, to name but a few.Over 500 bird species have been recorded in the park, including ostriches, kestrels, buzzards, starlings, weaver birds, kingfishers, hornbills, secretary birds and herons.

Day 7: Full day Tsavo East National Park
Have an early breakfast, Counter-check your birding equipments and start your game drive with a parked lunch in the park. In the evening have your dinner and overstay at Voi Wildlife Lodge
This vast area is excellent Birding country, popular with specialist birding safaris. Notable species recorded include the rare Basra Reed Warbler, Friedmann’s Lark, Ostrich, Blue Quail, Violet Wood hoopoe, Martial and Crowned Eagle.

Day 8: Tsavo East to Amboseli National Park
Have an early game drive in the park. Thereafter, return to the lodge for breakfast and proceed to Amboseli National Park with packed lunches. Arrive in time time for an afternoon game viewing in the park.
Amboseli is popular with birders as Elephant watchers. Over 400 species including at least 40 raptors have been recorded. Notable species include the Lesser Flamingo, many ducks, darters and heron nest in the wetlands, and birds of prey including a small population of Martial Eagles.

Day 9: Full Day Amboseli
